1988 – 1989 – Hamburg, Germany
I worked at this small boutique hotel as a receptionist and was most of the times left sole responsible for looking after the guest and also prepared breakfast in the morning.
City House Hotel:
Hotel City House, possibly one of Hamburg's last insider tips. A short flight of steps leads to the city villa, which was built around 1890 and has since been renovated. Situated in a peaceful side street and yet - as the name suggests - right in the heart of Hamburg, the hotel is a real architectural gem. With its unique personal charm and friendly staff, the hotel will make your visit to Hamburg extra special.
In our 30 beautifully furnished rooms in the old-style building with high stucco ceilings, you will experience 4 star comfort and an atmosphere to make you feel at home.
Start your day with our lavish breakfast buffet and enjoy the stylish atmosphere. You will find plenty of space to relax or work in our library with open fire. Here, you can read a book in peace on one of our comfortable sofas or wingback chairs or use our free Internet WiFi service.
The hotel's central location, on the edge of the St. Georg district, means that in just a few minutes you can walk from the hotel to the main train station, the ZOB (central bus station), the Alster Lake and the stylish shopping streets.
From the main train station, you can take the underground or S-bahn urban railway to the port, Speicherstadt warehouse district, theatres, musicals and opera.
Or walk through the train station straight onto the Mönckebergstraße shopping street, which will take you to the "Rathaus" (town hall) and Jungfernstieg.
In the lively St. Georg district, discover a wealth of restaurants, charming pubs, jazz bars, bistros etc. Don't forget to visit “Lange Reihe”, one of the most vibrant and popular streets in Hamburg. It is not far from the hotel and offers a great choice of some of the trendiest restaurants and bars in town. This street, with its elegant shops, is also a great place for shopping and a stroll.
